We started Strata in 2023, launching the first 3-ply carbon steel pan on Kickstarter in Jan 2024.
We were awarded a utility patent (U.S. Pat. No. 12,440,064) on our nitrided construction in 2025!
At Strata, we’re a team of creative mechanical engineers, product designers, manufacturing specialists, and most importantly, passionate cooks and carbon steel enthusiasts.
Our journey began as cooking enthusiasts looking for the perfect cookware. We wanted cookware that was coating-free, naturally stick-resistant, long lasting, and comfortable to use. When we couldn’t find it, we decided to make it ourselves.
Why Carbon Steel Pans?
Carbon steel cookware brings almost everything to the table. It’s reliable, durable, stick-resistant, and most importantly, free from chemical coatings. The catch is that it’s often incredibly heavy, making it hard to lift and awkward to clean in the sink.
We set out to create the world’s FIRST carbon steel clad pan with an aluminum core, making it the lightest, most comfortable carbon steel pan ever made, without compromise.
The cookware industry is flooded with disposable, convenience-driven products that contribute to overconsumption and waste. Our pan is crafted to last a lifetime, without harmful chemicals and without compromise. It’s a reflection of our values as product designers and our love for cooking.
More than just a tool, we believe this pan has the power to spark a shift in the cookware industry, encouraging people to move away from waste and toxicity and embrace durable, natural cookware that stands the test of time.
